This delicious alternative to plain water is a winning combination. Not only do I drink more water, it helps to curb my appetite with a healthy zero calorie push. I call my drink:
The Fizz Drop
2 1/2 C Perrier or mineral water of choice
1 C freshly squeezed lemons
1 C freshly squeezed red grapefruit or oranges
1 lemon wedge or mint leaf
Combine 1/2 C Perrier mineral water to each cup of juice separately. Place red grapefruit mixture in ice cube tray separately from the lemon juice mixture. Freeze over night or until solid. When solid place one lemon ice cube and one red grapefruit ice cube in 8 oz glass of Perrier. Garnish with mint or fruit wedge. Serve and enjoy!
2/15 **I’ve since experimented with limes and am astonished with what they can do to enhance bubbly and plain water in a frozen ice cube model. I now have a tray of each ready to go at a moments notice. Lemon, grapefruit, lime and oranges freshly squeezed with added Perrier all in beautifully appointed ice trays. Frozen beer steins really boost the ambiance of different. And because I had to squeeze so many fruits by hand, I invested in a Krups Electric Acrylic Citrus Juicer which brought a wonderful new dimension to the process!
5/15 *** I just tried freezing lemons, oranges and limes cut in quarters and adding them to The Fizz Drop. (A frozen lemon wedge dropped in hot tea also helps defuse the flavor so much faster). These variations to sparkling water are so delicious, and another clever way to utilize old or sour citrus fruits. Kind of tastes like Sangria without the wine 🙂 Try it, I guarantee you’ll love the difference and convenience; so good for you too!
