Ditch the Puppy
Sometimes having the right motivation but wrong delivery mechanism (always seeking approval from others) can cause helplessness and failure. Try switching to approval from within first:
Do what you do because it helps you.
Do what you do because it excites and motivates you.
A job well done must first and foremost inspire you.
Don’t expect gratitude or praise from others as your goal.
Success loves confidence; it causes the puppy dog to follow you!
