As far as the eye can see, luscious green ferns adorn, as precious jewels, the grounds of my home.

Feathery, light to the touch, broad in stature, exquisite to behold; ferns are a hardy, prolific native inhabitant of the Pacific Northwest;  as plentiful and dominant to the forest as sand is to the beach.  Though not of any significant economic importance, ferns are like priceless pearls, you could get along without them but the world is a better place because of them.

Shark cartilage has been my friend since the early nineties when Dr. I. William Lane and Linda Comac wrote an amazing book, Sharks Don’t Get Cancer  Over the years I’ve read this little gem twice, cover to cover.   In fact, I can still remember that dusty little store on H St in Blaine, WA with its big window sign proclaiming “Shark Cartilage Sold Here” and my first purchase.  Curiosity made me try it, results made it a staple.

Have you ever been cut or scratched by a blackberry prickle (thorn); been tripped by its endless vines; been bitten by the critters lurking in its womb or stung by the nettles skirting its perimeter? I surely have!

You are our seasoned friends;
loyal, fierce and true,
each and every one of you.
Win or lose,
no matter the game,
our loving hearts remain the same.
In solidarity shine on,
 our celestial stars,
deterred not by defeat’s ugly scars.
For this years Super Bowl
was not yours to keep,
stopped by the opponent’s last second sweep.
If we don’t worry,
 don’t you be sorry.
Victory will loom,
again real soon.

 A team for the ages,
we’re so very proud of you.

My first published post at wannathink.com spotlighted the beautiful yet controversial all-electric Tesla automobile:

I want to be a farmer.
And mother Earth’s partner.
That so, why?
To be me
and free.
To work the land,
with an eager hand.
That so, why?
Because I know I can,
I’m the man.
And if I don’t, who will?
It don’t matter, Bill.

The Concern

*My heart aches when I see injustice targeted at an interest group already legislatively overwhelmed.  One such group is the hard-working, over-regulated farmers of our country.  It is not an easy life and not suitable for the weak of heart or body.
